Educating the Mind, Body, and Spirit

Pastor's Welcome

Dear Friends,

At the end of the Gospel of Matthew, the Lord Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you”(Mt. 28: 19-20). The disciples, then, understood that their mission was to go out and engage in significant relationships that would make others experience and know the saving power of God.

When we reflect on our mission in the Parish of Christ the King and Marquette School, we are convinced that it could not be different from the same mission the friends of Jesus received. As they were, we are also committed to making our parishioners, staff, teachers, and students true disciples of Christ.

Pope Francis recently pointed out, “Our generation will show that it can rise to the promise found in each young person when we know how to give them space. This means that we have to create the material and spiritual conditions for their full development; to give them a solid basis on which to build their lives; to guarantee their safety and their education to be everything they can be.” This basic principle makes us see in every Marquette student, a child of God who has been endowed with great gifts and talents that through the actions of our school find the proper space, support, and stimulus to grow.

As we continue with the mission of Christ in the Parish of Christ the King and Marquette School, let us renew our timeless commitment of making great disciples in an environment of educational excellence, integral formation, and spiritual development.

Sincerely in Christ,

Fr. Elkin J. González
